Think Pink – or not… In Redding, CA

My mom died 3 years ago this month.

I don’t say that for shock value, but to let people know a lot about me.  Because it somewhat defines me.  My mom was my best friend, my confidant, my partner-in-crime, and one of the funniest people I know.  I miss her like I can’t even explain.

About 5 years ago, she had a small mass (like super small, less than a 1/2 inch or something) of cancerous cells removed from her breast.  No problem, got it all.  They zapped her a couple of times, ta-da, she’s done!  Then, the summer of 2010, she developed some lung problems and had difficulty breathing.  Of course she didn’t go to the doctor right away, it was just a cold or flu.  So she waited.  And waited.  And it didn’t get better.  Turned out that the little cells she had before didn’t go away, but instead, metastasized to her lungs and then her liver.  Well, that, as they say, was that.  :o(  Mom died on October 25, 2011.

So, back to this whole Think Pink thing.  I can’t do it.  Not yet.  I’ve tried before and every event I go to, I’m just an absolute puddle of tears.  I think I might try to photograph the Sundial Bridge tonight from afar.  But I just can’t go down there and hear the stories and, and, and….  Not yet.  But if you do – please say a little prayer or think happy thoughts about my mom, Linda Cassinetto.  I’m sure she’d appreciate it until I can get there….
